How to Find My Inner Asian/ Q Up: 2010

Q Up is an arts intensive for young Asian American girls residing in Queens, NY slated for February 2010. The project is a collaboration between Rising Circle and Queens Theatre in the Park and includes a free performance on Wednesday, February 10th at 7:00 p.m. at Queens Theatre in the Park of Nancy Kim's How to Find My Inner Asian, Directed by Catherine Jhung.

Q Up is a 2009 Recipient of the Asian Women's Giving Circle grant, a giving circle fund of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, and the Open Meadows Foundation.

Call for Submissions:

Rising Circle is currently seeking submissions for the writers'  INKtank, a playwriting lab designed to develop the work of three playwrights of color.  INKtank will culminate with an open reading at Rising Circle's PLAYRISE Festival.   Please contact Sanjit De Silva or Charity Henson-Ballard at info@risingcircle.org for more information.

Grace at the Irondale Theater

Rising Circle, in collaboration with Epic Theater Center and The Lark Play Development Center, will present a reading of Grace by Sanjit De Silva and Deepa Purohit the evening Tuesday,  May 25th, 2010 at the Irondale Theater in Brooklyn as a part of Epic’s Passion Play Project.  Look out for more details coming soon!  Check out a clip of our developmental lab.

Founded in 2000, Rising Circle Theater Collective is dedicated to broadening the scope of storytelling on the American stage.  We accomplish this by providing an artistic home for artists of color that empowers them to seek out unheard stories of people of color that inspire the creation of theater that challenges cultural misperceptions in an effort to bridge social divides
